HELP?! how do i make acrylic nails shiny? I can do the acrylic but they dont shine they're dull!?

i put baby oil over the nails and then wash it off really well with soap and water. then i would paint them the color you want and then use any protecting polish!.(: i do my own acrylic nails at home too!.(:
