Is it wishful thinking that the Lakers believe they will get D. Howard?

Yeah I agree with you and in fact I think it's stupid and this is coming from a Laker fan.Why would they need another key Center if they already have one?The Lakers don't need another Center that can't even make free throws,they need a legit point guard who can run the offensive flow.The Point Guard position is their weakness throughout the years and don't get me wrong I like Derek fisher but he's too old now and I don't think he can keep up with quick point guards anymore.And I don't see anything wrong with Bynum,he's still young and improving and can be the future all star of the Lakers.And besides,Gasol can take his spot when he is injured so is Odom and still win games.
