So what now help what to do?

about a year ago i had a bf that went off to the navy but we broke up cuz long distance. we made a promise that we would wait for each other for a year and he would come back and get me . anyways exactly to day it has been a year and i haven't heard from him. i tell myself i should move on but i don't know how. guess what i am asking is how do i move on or should i wait another month . idk what to do. i think i am just holding on to wishful thinking . i try to contact him but i cant find him :(
