Will my hair dye fade quickly if I dampen my hair every day?

I am going to dye my hair with a hair dye that lasts about 21 washes, but I dampen my hair every day because Its the only way to style it really, Does that have the same effect as washing it? Will it fade quickly? Am I better going for a permanent?
