I need help with Real Player and Real Trimmer?

I use Real Player (the free download) to create videos. Normally Real Trimmer lets you cut and save small sections, but now it won't. When I try to save a section it asks you to name it, you press okay and then it shuts down Real Player completely. I've uninstalled/reinstalled, rebooted, used different source videos and made different cuts - but nothing changes. Happens on my laptop and on a PC. All of the video is my own, no copyrighted material or blocked content. Any ideas?
